The Impact You Have On Others

In a previous post, I talked about those who inspire and how we use others as inspiration. Well, a personal experience has occurred in which I thought was a touching enough story to share with all of you who continuously read my blog. Most of you know what I go through and some of you do not, but for those of you close to me, you all know how I hide my emotions if it isn't happiness. Some people read right through it and those are the people who see my true potential. I have been reminded by three individuals of the impact I have made on them and the beauty they find in myself that I refuse to see. These three stories about how I have impacted people have impacted me as a person and just validates why I do what I do; why I spread positivity even when people may think there is none to be found.

The first story I was told as to how I impacted someone's life was about a friend of mine who had experienced similar stomach problems. I fondly remember their entire journey and how I was trying to help but it wasn't until one day in class, this friend decided to speak up and say, "Kelsey was the one person who genuinely understood me. We would have these talks about medications and what foods to stay away from as well as how to gain weight in drastic measures. I never felt alone because I knew I had someone who understood my pain." This sentence will never be forgotten in my mind because after I went through what I went through with my own battle, I told myself that I don't want anyone else to feel alone ever again. The second story came up in the same class as another one of my friend recollected how I had helped her cousin go through her battles. "She would visit Kelsey at Summer Rec Camp and would give her new best friend a hug. They called each other their Crohnie Sisters." And my Crohnie Sister she was indeed. She was a fighter let me tell you and she still fights every day and is growing up to be a strong individual. The last story impacted me the most because it came at an unexpected time, or may I say the time I really needed. This individual reached out to me and told me how she has looked up to me since the 4th grade. Crazy right! That's what I thought too. She didn't just stop there but instead she told me, "I have looked up to you because no matter what you don't give up. You always find a way to do something and you don't let anything stop you. You were so sick for 4 months and yet that same year you pushed to make it on varsity for volleyball and look at you 2 years later starting varsity setter and captain. With you, everything is attainable."

From this post, don't ask yourself how you can be inspiring to someone. Don't change anything about yourself because one thing you should learn from this post is that to some, just by being you and living and breathing is inspiring. You don't have to do anything out of the box to be inspirational or make an impact on this world. If you just believe in yourself like the entire world does, then you will create that impact. The world is full of fans cheering you on, now accept it and be your own fan for once. I think a lot of us need to instill some faith in ourselves and pay respect where respect is due to ourselves.
